Sure enough, it wasn’t even twenty-fours later that I learned from one of my personal assistants that Leo and Ace would be willing to partake in the poker tournament I had planned for us on Friday night. However, they requested that we accommodate a plus one they planned on bringing. Immediately, my mind jumped right to their father, Magnus.

Christ! Did he have that tight of a fucking leash on his sons!?

Magnus coming would defeat the entire purpose of the event. I might as well cancel the whole damn thing if he was planning to join. But much to my relief, my assistant informed me that the person they wanted to tag along was Kent Scythe. Instantly, I recognized the name. The real estate tycoon himself, who had an agency and brokerage empire under him. Based on gossip I’ve overheard and some of the social media outlet news stories I’ve come across, I also gathered that he was a total playboy, with a new guy’s arm wrapped around him every week, practically.

I was surprised that the Bettencourt brothers kept him in their company. Ace and Leo were nothing like Kent. The only thing they had in common was their wealth and being high up in the business world. Well, that, and the fact that Kent and Ace were both gay, too. Leo, I wasn’t so sure about. However, it had been years since he had a girlfriend. Still, there was something off about him that left his sexuality partly questionable.

At any rate, despite Kent Scythe being a notorious power bottom, I was much more pleased that he was the plus one they intended on bringing, instead of Magnus. And because of that, I told my personal assistant to let them know that it was fine for Kent to join.

So, I realized it would be an even playing field. The Bettencourts had Ace, Leo, and now Kent. On the Brexley side, we had me, Jasper, and our friend and fixer, Cecil, who worked for my father and for me now. Cecil was a silent, but deadly man. When threats needed to be made, and we had slimeball clients who weren’t holding up their end of our contracts or tried to fuck us over, Cecil would take care of them. Had the man ever killed anyone? I was pretty damn sure he had. But he kept his own personal and business affairs to himself. It was best Jasper and I knew nothing about how he ruined the people that fucked us over. Less of a mess for us to handle. Plus, litigation and all that fucking jazz. Despite his seedy background and stone-cold personality, he was a close friend and ally of mine, one of the few people I could count on my hand that I trusted in this world, which is why I liked having him in my company whenever I was at a social gathering or event of some sort.

Tonight, he entered my penthouse with a gun in his holster, tucked away behind the gray suit jacket he was sporting.
